GLOMAP Approach for Nonlinear System Identification of Aircraft Dynamics Using Flight Data
This paper introduces the Global-Local Mapping Approximation algorithm as a candidate for identifying nonlinear, six degree-of-freedom rigid body aircraft dynamics. The technique models the nonlinear dynamical model as a sum of linear model and nonlinear model. The linear model dynamics are assumed to be perturbed by a nonlinear term which represents the system nonlinearities that are not captu...
متن کاملAircraft Engine Performance Study Using Flight Data Recorder Archives
Aircraft emissions are a significant source of pollution and are closely related to engine fuel burn. The onboard Flight Data Recorder (FDR) is an accurate source of information as it logs operational aircraft data in situ. The main objective of this paper is the visualization and exploration of data from the FDR. The Airbus A330 223 is used to study the variation of normalized engine performan...
متن کاملValidating Uncertain Aircraft Simulation Models Using Flight Test Data
Reliability validation of safety-critical flight control systems requires accurate simulation models of aircraft. This paper proposes a simple approach to validate such models efficiently using flight data. A statistical model validation analysis is shown to be equivalent to a robust control analysis for simple linear systems. The analysis is extended to nonlinear systems in conjunction with Mo...
متن کاملGust Response of Highly Flexible Aircraft
The paper presents a methodology for calculating the flight dynamic characteristics and gust response of highly flexible aircraft. The aeroelastic model is based on a geometricallyexact, nonlinear beam model coupled with large angle aerodynamic model. The gust response is calculated based on various gust models. It is shown that the calculated gust response spectrum as well as the RMS values ca...
متن کاملSystem Identification Methods for Aircraft Flight Control Development and Validation
System-identification methods compose a mathematical model, or series of models, from measurements of inputs and outputs of dynamic systems. The extracted models allow the characterization of the response of the overall aircraft or component subsystem behavior, such as actua-tors and on-board signal processing algorithms. This paper discusses the use of frequency-domain system-identification me...
